Spare Time and Actions
The equivalent of downtime, spare time is used to perform many actions that take long periods of time or concentration. Spare time is separated into spare time points, with each point being equivalent to one hour of passing time. You gain a limited amount of spare time points to use every day based on what you are doing. For example if you are traveling through space and you have a job on the ship such as the pilot you only have two spare time points every day. This would only be the case if you spent your full fourteen hour work day at the controls, you could put it on auto pilot or have someone else take control for part or all of the time if you need more time for something. However once any time has passed during a hour of spare time you can not change your action.
Spare time can be used to perform a multitude of actions like research, buying gear, repairing your ship, and first aid. Most if not all spare time actions require some type of skill check or even multiple skill checks over the entire task. Actions only require multiple skill checks if they require multiple spare time checks to be successful. Other players and npc's can also assist you in tasks by spending their spare time and making the checks required during that time. For example lets say you have to research a important object for a job but it requires twenty spare time points and you only have a single days worth of time. You can set up shifts to continue the research where the previous player left off and complete the job in a more reasonable amount of time.
